How to Check if a Site is Available on an Encrypted Connection
If you use a web browser to access the Internet, it's very likely you'll be transferred to a secure connection at some point. But when you visit a site that uses a secure connection, the URL shows you the connection type and you can be sure you're connected to the right server. If you want to be sure you're connected to the right server and your connection is secure, you can install HTTPS Finder. It's a little tool that allows you to check if a given page is available on an encrypted connection.
Here's how it works. It scans the page you want to check and uses the connection type to determine whether the page is available on a secure connection or not. You can optionally choose to have it switch automatically.
Now, it's worth pointing out that HTTPS Finder has its limitations. This tool works on desktop web browsers and only on desktop devices. And it only works for sites that support the use of HTTPS. It doesn't work for pages that use the SSL/TLS protocol, but do not offer the "HTTPS" option.
